OK--I saw "Paycheck" this afternoon. A major plot point, early on, is that Ben Affleck's character has obtained a number of patents for his work. Now, he's had his memory erased. Obviously, for certain highly sensitive materials, patent applications may be redacted, but the federal government was showing them off, meaning they had to be at least semi-public. So, why couldn't he just walk to the local cybercafe and pull up the USPTO website? The movie's not bad. Yeah, it's little more than a sunnier variation on "Minority Report," but still, there are worse ways to spend a few hours on a winter afternoon.
